Monologue Tips 1, Monologue tips 2
What to prepare:
Students interested in working in 2025 UIL OAP should pick up a Production Packet from Mrs. Collins and fill out the digital OAP Interview/Audition Sign up. Technicians should also pick up a copy of the Technician manual for OAP.
Students looking to audition for a role will prepare two contrasting monologues to perform. Call backs will be held using various sides from the considered shows, and those sides will be posted after the Tuesday the 28th Auditions Date. They are however encouraged to look at the plays listed below and familiarize themselves with the stories, plots and uniqueness of each.
Students looking to interview for the tech process should bring a portfolio of their creative work. They should also have reviewed the UIL Technical Regulations as it applies to UIL OAP Technicians and formed an understanding of how that would affect their work in the process. They are encouraged to look into the plays listed below and bring ideas for how they might bring their own skills into developing that show.
Plays we are considering:
Eurydice
Men On Boats
Much Ado About Nothing
Miracle Worker
UIL Requirements: Manual
UIL OAP allows for a 20 member company of cast and technicians, and 4 alternates for either spot. This means we can do any combination of actors and technicians we wish. The script will also be cut down to a 38 minute run time, with a 7 minute set up and 7 minute strike time. We also will travel to contest sites to perform and will be rehearsing in the TWHS 9th grade campus LGI.
Things of note/Conflicts:
TFA State: March 5th - March 8th (March 7th - Zone B Contest)
Choir: Spring Trip - Friday, April 11th-13th (Saturday, April 12th - UIL OAP Area Contest)
Conroe ISD: TWHS Prom Saturday, April 26th (Friday & Saturday April 26th - Region OAP)
