Directors
Matthew Peters
Advanced and Level Theatre I (9th Grade Campus), Musical Theater I - II (Senior Campus), Theater Production I - II (Senior Campus) [email protected] |
Mr. Peters found his love in theater by performing as an Elf in St. Peter's Childcare Holiday Production in Pasadena, TX. From there he has had the opportunity to perform and direct at The Alley Theater, Miller Outdoor Theater, The Hobby Center and at various community theaters throughout Houston.
Mr. Peters has been teaching for the past 16 years after graduating from Texas A&M University. After college, he taught at Elsik High School in Alief ISD for 4 years. For the past 12 years he has been teaching Theater 1, Productions, and Musical Theater at The Woodlands High School. He is a speech coach and also the director in charge of the 2016, 2018, 2021, #1 High School Improv Troupe in Texas, the TWHS Improv Troupe (Funky Bunch!).
Outside of our theater department, Mr. Peters is the State Festival Director and Executive Board President for Texas Thespians. He has been involved with the organization for the past 12 years, and helps plan that State Festival where over 10,000 students and teachers attend. When he is not teaching or directing a show (which is rare!), Mr. Peters enjoys spending time with his wife Claire, his sons Mason and Connor, his best dog friend Gus, and his "adopted" cat Trooper. He is an avid Houston and Texas A&M sports fan, which leads to many depressing weekends.

Ms. Dupuis holds a Bachelor of Science in Theatre with an Acting/Directing emphasis and is a professional performer by trade.
Making her performance debut as a 3-year-old in a tutu, Ms. Dupuis began commercial work and modeling by the age of 7. Found herself cast in stage plays at 14 before ultimately performing in indie films and touring companies in the decades to come. Some of her most notable credits include Artistic Director of Stage Left, a small grass roots acting company; an invited guest of Once Upon a Dream, an international Improv Troupe; touring in William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night in the role of Olivia; performing the prestigious role of Nora in Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House; and originating the role of Brandi in the first professional production of the one act play ASH. Although most of Ms. Dupuis’ professional experience is in front of the curtain; she has been lucky enough to work in various positions behind the curtain along the way. Some of Ms. Dupuis’ fondest memories are developing new works and reimagined classics in venues such as found spaces and small intimate blackbox theatres.
Prior to stepping into the secondary classroom Ms. Dupuis worked as a freelance Teaching Artist holding workshops and masterclasses for various artists. Within the realm of public education Ms. Dupuis has built two award winning theatre programs, written district curriculum for students spanning across 7-12 grade in Acting, Technical Theatre and Musical Theatre disciplines and was nominated for the A+ Teacher award during her time with Tomball ISD. From 2012-2016 she tutored students at ACT seeking their teaching certificate in Theatre for the state of Texas. From 2012-2016 she enjoyed running the Makeup event in the Texas Techie Challenge at the Texas Thespians ITS Festival; in 2019 held the Technical Director position for the Tate Stage; and has enjoyed judging multiple events at Festival since 2012 to the present.
Joining the TWHS Directing team in 2019 Ms. Dupuis continues her goal as a theatrical educator - to foster a safe collaborative atmosphere that allows each student to cultivate their artistry while gaining confidence and ownership over their individual artistic voice. In addition to teaching Theatre 1, Ms. Dupuis directs seasonal straight plays; produces Highlander Film Festival; and coaches acting events for TFA Speech as well as Individual/Group events for Thespian Festival.

Mrs. Davis holds a BFA in Theatre from Sam Houston State University and a MA in Theatre from The University of Houston, where she also spent time in London studying at RADA and the Globe Theatre.
She has been a lifelong practitioner of theatre holding many roles including actor, director, designer, producer, and stage manager. She moved into theatre education in 2015, serving as a Theatre Director, Designer, and Auditorium Manager for 7 years. Some of her most favorite shows she has had the pleasure of directing and designing include The Giver, Dark Road, The Pajama Game, James and the Giant Peach, Lucky Stuff, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, A Streetcar Named Desire, Godspell, Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic, The Wizard of Oz, and A Monster Calls.
As a director, she is drawn to ensemble based shows that have room for unique ensemble movement and storytelling. She is inspired by theatre movements and theatre companies like Frantic Assembly in the UK who make this a part of their mission.
As a designer, she enjoys pushing the boundaries and finding where practicality meets creativity to create unique theatre designs, guiding the audience into the world of the play. She loves asking (and hopefully answering) the question “What do we want the audience to feel when experiencing this play and how can we do that in a new and exciting way?” She is looking forward to the upcoming school year and settling into her new role as Technical Director for TWHS. But, most of all, she is excited about getting to know the students and mentoring the future designers and technicians of the theatre world.
When not working, she is most likely spending time with her husband and 2 boys out in The Woodlands community: enjoying the turf on a sunny day in Market Street, enjoying some good food on one of the many patios along the waterway, taking a dip in one of the community pools, or enjoying an evening at one of their favorite local spots on a rare kid-free date night.
